Watch Willie Nelson Get a Standing Ovation From Georgia Crowd With This “Georgia on My Mind” Performance

There are few country artists more prolific or impactful than Willie Nelson. First breaking into country music in the late ’50s, the Red-Headed Stranger’s career has spanned most of the latter half of the 20th century and beyond. And fortunately for quite literally everyone, Nelson continues to share his music with the world at the ripe old age of 91. And a standing ovation during a recent Georgia show proves he’s still got it.

Willie Nelson Wows Peach State Crowd With ‘Georgia On My Mind Performance’

In February, Willie Nelson embarked “On the Road Again” with his family band. On April 13, he stopped by the Macon Mall in Macon, Georgia.

Treating the crowd to an array of his own hits, the “Seven Spanish Angels” crooner also threw in a few classics. The Peach State audience especially loved “Georgia On My Mind,” rewarding Nelson with a standing ovation.

The performance was nothing fancy, but with Willie, it doesn’t need to be. Sporting his signature braids and red bandana, the 91-year-old national treasure sang softly but clearly: I said Georgia / Georgia / A song of you (a song of you) / Comes as sweet and clear / As moonlight through the pines.

Country singer Alison Nichols shared footage of the moment to TikTok, captioning the video, “literal legend.” And honestly, we couldn’t have said it better.

“Could never get tired of Willie,” commented one TikTok user. “He makes that guitar sing like no one else on earth.”

We’re Getting New Willie

Even approaching his 92nd birthday with a packed touring schedule, Willie Nelson still finds time to make new music. The 12-time Grammy Award winner will reinterpret the songs of Rodney Crowell on his next album, Oh What a Beautiful World.

Out April 25, Oh What a Beautiful World marks Nelson’s 77th solo record and 154th album overall. The record is a look back at Crowell’s career, featuring songs made famous by Keith Urban (“Making Memories of Us”), Bob Seger (“Shame on the Moon”) and Jerry Jeff Walker (“Banks Of The Old Bandera”).
