Reba McEntire Comes From A Musical Family

Reba McEntire was born and raised in Oklahoma in a musical family. HER mother was formerly an aspiring country music artist and often taught Reba and her siblings the different components of music.

Seeing that the music bug had also bitten various other siblings, Reba and two of her siblings, Pake and Susie, ultimately created a musical group, The Singing McEntires.

The sibling group typically sang at local rodeos and for small-town radio stations, eventually releasing an original song called “The Ballad of John McEntire.”

As we all know, Reba went on to have a legendary solo country music career, while Susie had a successful singing career in the gospel genre, releasing 15 total albums.

Decades Later, The Sisters Reunited For A Moving Duet

With the musical desire clearly inhabiting more than one McEntire, it was only fitting for Reba to have her younger sister and former bandmate, Susie McEntire-Eaton sing with her on the gospel song, “Sky Full Of Angels.”

Reba released a solo version of the song on her 2003 album Room To Breathe, while Susie recorded her own version for her 2008 album Let Go, when she was known to the world as Susie Luchsinger.

The two women took over the melody with their unbelievable talent, showcasing the striking similarities in their voices! The uplifting beat and hopeful message talks of eliminating fears and doubts in light of the protection and security that is felt from the “angels watching over.”

Although it is a popular cover amongst various gospel singers, it is this heartfelt version between these loving sisters that continues to capture fans of both country music and gospel enthusiasts!
